Agoda: Koreans in love with Vietnam’s beaches
This week, the Vietnam General Statistics Office released its official inbound travel data for the first quarter of 2024. The data revealed visitor numbers of 4.6 million international visitors, which exceeded pre-pandemic levels for the same period with South Korean visitors leading the way in Q1 of this year.
Using its own booking data, digital travel platform Agoda shows that visitors from South Korea are particularly drawn by the allure of Vietnam’s sandy shores and crystal-clear waters, with the top four destinations among Korean travelers indicating their eyes are firmly fixed on Vietnam’s coastal cities and islands.
Da Nang, Nha Trang, Hoi An and Phu Quoc Island were the four most popular drawcards for Koreans, with Ho Chi Minh City rounding out the top five of most popular Vietnam destinations.
Lam Vu, Country Director Vietnam at Agoda shared, “It’s unsurprising that our beaches attract global visitors seeking both vibrant coastal towns and cities, and beautiful sandy beaches. From the historical allure of Hoi An to the tropical island of Phu Quoc, or the urban energy of Ho Chi Minh City, there is a rich tapestry of experiences that South Koreans seem to appreciate, as illustrated by Agoda’s travel insights from this past quarter.”
In addition to 4.2 million hotels and holiday properties, Agoda also offers flights and activities, which can be combined to increase extra savings. Ideal for booking a hassle-free vacation, whether it’s to soak in the coastal splendor of Da Nang or explore the energetic streets of Ho Chi Minh City.
