The Grand Prize was taken out by 3rd year Electrical Engineering student Tran Tuan Khiem who devised an automatic egg incubator.
Speaking of his award winning entry, Khiem said: “When I design, I try to incorporate ESG (environmental, social and governance) principles into my design to create the most complete product possible, with the hope that the agricultural industry is able to use these designs and creations to develop sustainably, especially in the poultry industry.”

He said of the program: “It has been an enriching experience that has expanded my knowledge to contribute to solve the challenges of the future.”
“At Avnet we are delighted to organize this design contest with Nha Trang University. It is a new way of innovating alongside our supplier and institutional partners based on collective technology intelligence. We see fresh ideas coming from student enthusiasts in Vietnam, and this is also a way to detect our very own local top talents. We were amazed by the creativity and depth of the designs submitted, and look forward to developing the next generation of engineering and design talents and scaling the electronics industry,” said Ms. Tan Aik Hoon, Regional President, Avnet South Asia, Korea and Avnet United.
“We at Nha Trang University are delighted to receive support from Avnet as this is an amazing opportunity for students to work with the latest techonology, hence helps them polish their practical skills to meet the demand of the labor market. We hope that in the future similar programs will not only stop at one school, but can develop throughout the region. This is the first step to promote technology for Nha Trang area in particular and central Vietnam in the future.” Said Mr. Quach Hoai Nam, Vice Director of Nha Trang University.
The partnership between the technology leader and the University dates back to a cooperation agreement signed in March 2022, offering students of Nha Trang University access to the company’s products and solutions to help bridge the gaps between lecture theaters and the theater of life. The agreement saw Avnet establish an innovation laboratory at the university’s campus to foster young Vietnamese innovation and talent in the technology industry and its verticals.
The university reports that, one year in, over 100 students are regularly using the labs facilities for study and research.
