Boeing highlights supply chain opportunities and sustainability at the first Aerospace Industry Forum
Hanoi, Vietnam, August 25, 2022 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] today shared its vision for increasing Vietnamese opportunities in aerospace manufacturing and training, supply chain, sustainable aviation and research and development. More than 50 Vietnamese companies, universities and government agencies participated in the first Boeing Aerospace Industry Forum, which was hosted by Boeing in Vietnam.
“The Aerospace Industry Forum builds upon Boeing’s collaboration with Vietnam and its aviation industry over the past 25 years to expand the country’s aerospace capabilities,” said Michael Nguyen, country director, Boeing Vietnam. “The significant opportunities outlined at the Forum align with the government’s Make in Vietnam, Digital Vietnam, and Green Energy goals. We will continue to work with Vietnamese industry and universities to provide a foundation for long-term industrial growth.”
Boeing’s current suppliers in Vietnam are raising the bar to deliver world-class quality and productivity as they become an important part of the company’s global supply chain. Vietnamese suppliers have been manufacturing components including aerostructures, electronics and composites for the past decade to support Boeing commercial airplane production. Boeing also collaborates with Vietnam companies on best practices for lean manufacturing, supplier management and other specialized training.
Boeing shared the company’s strategy to decarbonize aviation with a focus on fleet renewal, operational efficiencies, a renewable energy transition with an emphasis on sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and advanced technology.
Boeing in Vietnam has contributed to several community initiatives focused on STEM education, providing resources to prepare young adults and an emerging workforce with technical skills development.
