Burn and earn!
California Fitness’ new app lets you earn rewards for burning calories
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; 10 October 2020: California Fitness & Yoga today announced the launch of its new rewards mobile app, which will offer fitness-lovers around Vietnam the opportunity to get paid for every step they take.
The new app, which is free for everyone in Vietnam, offers real time redemption and monetization of your physical activity as an attempt to keep everyone in the country engaged in physical activity. For those who are members of California Fitness & Yoga, there are exclusive rewards and video content as well.
“Our mission is to engage as many people in Vietnam to live an active and healthy life,” said Mr. Dane Fort, FLG Vietnam’s Chief Executive Officer – the group that owns and operates California Fitness & Yoga. “About 3 years ago, we realised there were millions of people who wanted to be active but couldn’t fit gym into their daily habits or lacked the motivation to keep up with a daily active routine. LivWell app aims to give extra motivation to those people too. The app allows anyone to monitor their steps, get points for each step taken and redeem those points for free discounts, gifts and freebies across hundreds of partners across the country.”
The way the app works is simple: points are awarded for every step taken – and if you’re a California Fitness & Yoga member, for every class or PT session, every gym check-in or workout video watched via challenges. “In the future, we will also provide a way to track other physical activities such as swimming and cycling, ensuring users have more and more ways to earn LivWell points.” said Dane.
Points are credited in real-time, with real-time redemption available, and points redeemable on over 300+ offers from outlet partners including sports and fitness brands from FLG as well as Zone Golf, Key Power Sports and Hibi Sports; restaurant groups including Phuc Long Coffee, Meet Fresh, Body Impact, Chickita, Alfrescos and El Gaucho; mobile phone and technology providers including Samsung, Mobifone and Vinafone; medical services including Jio Health, Maple Healthcare and American Chiropractic Clinic; Tiniworld is on board for the kids; and beauty brands including Soi Spa and Lou Lou Cosmetics. In 2021, Financial services products will also be available using LivWell coins. More partners are being added constantly, further broadening the options for app users.
“Central to this is the integration of community,” Dane explained. “In the next few months we will allow the formation of groups, discussions, challenges and communities to form around goals, targets and encouragement within the application. If your goal is to run a marathon, we have a community of runners to cheer you on; if you are working on yoga inversions, we have a community to share pointers and celebrate your progress, all within LivWell.”
The LivWell app, which is free to download on both iOS and Android is built in partnership with LivWell Asia, a Health and Insurtech startup based out of Singapore who operates with Blockchain technology. “The technology allows users to keep their data fully private, which has always been one of our priorities”, said Dane.
The focus on privacy has meanwhile attracted many of California Fitness & Yoga’s partner companies who have demonstrated interest in rolling it out to their own employees. “Starting 2021 we will also offer Livwell as an app for companies and HR teams. The app also features the ability to develop company teams, promote company rewards, company designed challenges where HR is able to incentivize employees to adopt healthier habits, compete with other teams within the company, and with other companies around the country” said Dane.
LivWell currently connects to both Apple Health and Watches, Fitbit and Google Fit, and will integrate with Samsung smartwatches, Garmin fitness trackers and devices in the coming months.
Livwell app is bilingual, has been live for anyone to download on Google and Apple app stores since middle of September and has attracted over 15,000 installs during its launch phase. It is expected to roll out to all 250,000 members of California Fitness & Yoga by end of the year.
