Cargill today shared key milestones achieved in 2024 through its flagship Cargill Cares school building program in Vietnam. With three schools inaugurated during the year, the program has now delivered 117 schools nationwide, collectively serving more than 18,000 students annually. This progress reflects the company’s steady strides toward its ambitious goal of building 150 schools by 2030.
“Every new school built represents a step closer to our shared vision of empowering children with education and opportunities. By working together with local communities and governments, we’re building not just schools, but a brighter future for generations to come. This commitment is central to how we nourish the world – by investing in people, especially in underserved areas,” said Luan Nguyen, Country President of Cargill in Vietnam.
In 2024, Cargill successfully completed and handed over three schools, enhancing educational access in Vietnam’s Northern mountainous and Central Highlands areas.
- Xop Primary School (No. 115), located in Dak Glei, Kon Tum Province, was inaugurated in September 2024. This school, now serving 90 students, features three classrooms, a 90m² dining room, two toilets, and a boundary fence, built with an investment of 2.5 billion VND.
- November 2024 had Nam Cuoi Kindergarten (No. 116) in Sin Ho District, Lai Chau Province, opening its doors, welcoming 90 students. This facility includes three classrooms and toilets, constructed with a total investment of 1.7 billion VND
- Tan Lap Primary School (No. 117) in Tan Lap Commune, Song Hinh District, Phu Yen Province was recently opened on 20th December 2024. The school site features five classrooms and restrooms, serving over 130 students, with an investment of 2.3 billion VND.
Together, these schools provide safe and conducive learning environments for children in underserved ethnic minority communities.
Meanwhile, Ta Cu Ty Kindergarten (No. 118), located in Ta Cu Ty Commune, Bac Ha District, Lao Cai Province, is scheduled for inauguration in the first few weeks of 2025. This school, designed to accommodate 60 students, will include two classrooms, one teacher accommodation room, a kitchen, and restrooms, constructed at a cost of 1.8 billion VND.
“As we approach Cargill’s 30th anniversary in Vietnam in 2025, this milestone reflects our deep commitment to the communities we serve. Every school built is more than a structure – it’s an investment in the future of Vietnam. Together with our partners, we remain steadfast in empowering students, fostering opportunities, and advancing sustainable development across the nation,” Luan Nguyen added.
Since its inception in 1996, the Cargill Cares school building program has completed 117 schools, benefiting more than 18,000 students annually across 56 provinces in Vietnam, with a total investment exceeding US$6 million. This enduring initiative exemplifies Cargill’s unwavering mission to improve lives and communities through sustainable, impactful actions. As Cargill approaches its 150-school milestone by 2030, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to creating meaningful, long-term impacts in Vietnam’s educational landscape.
