Central Group formed its joint venture with leading Vietnamese electronics retailer Nguyen Kim Trading in January 2015. The success of the partnership has been underpinned by a mutual commitment to contribute to the prosperity of Vietnam economically, and to improve the quality of life of the country’s people – an ethos that will carry in to the Big C Vietnam acquisition.
Established in July 2011, Central Group Vietnam is a member of Central Group. Our presence in Vietnam spans into numerous retailing including electronics, sporting, fashion, and department stores.
Central Group Vietnam currently employs more than 6,600 people in Vietnam, operating in around 100 stores in different retail formats including 4 department stores and concept stores, 27 sport stores, 30 fashion stores; 1 hotel; 21 electronics stores, 1 E-commerce platform, 13 Lanchi stores.
Through strong partnerships with Nguyen Kim and Lanchi Mart, our success grew out of our determination and commitment to contribute to the prosperity of Vietnam and to improve the quality of life of the people.
“Ultimately our success grew out of our determination and commitment to contribute to the prosperity of Vietnam and to improve the quality of life of the people – and we see in Big C a partner that shares this commitment and vision to improving and enriching the lives of people here,” said Mr. Nguyen Van Kim, Chairman of Nguyen Kim Trading Company.
Central Group’s pathway to success internationally is to invest with local partners and work collaboratively with all local stakeholders. As such with this acquisition, the Group is committed to continue to maintain strong relationships with Big C’s Vietnamese suppliers and farmers, its customers, its employees and the local authorities and communities, which allowed the development of modern retail in the country, notably the sourcing of goods produced in Vietnam for Big C stores.
