Digital travel platform Agoda launches 2021 global coding competition
Agoda today launches its Codegoda, global programing competition calling for software developers and engineers around the world to take part in and compete to solve algorithmic challenges. With a time limit of five hours, entrants can find solutions to the issues using programming languages of their choice, including C++, Python, Java, Swift, Javascript, and more. The competition will be held on 17July 2021 starting at 2pm ICT. These challenges are set by Agoda’s best-in-class tech team who help power global travel at scale managing 1,000 experiments running in parallel at any given time, and 1,200 deployments every day. The tech team at Agoda is responsible for over 220Tbs of data written daily, and oversees the smooth running of the trillion data events generated every day.
“Technology, in the past year, has proven even more crucial in helping businesses, governments and consumers to adapt to unexpected events. For us at Agoda, technology is key to everything we do and we constantly strive to drive innovation, for our brand, within our sector and beyond.
“Our tech team actively collaborates across industries to help share knowledge and deepen our understanding of tech solutions, whether this is for security and fraud, product development or AI and machine learning. They love the challenge of finding solutions, and so as a technology leader, Agoda wants to provide a platform that will bring problem solvers, coding enthusiasts and the tech community together, and in the process nurture and inspire global tech talent.” said Yaron Zeidman, CTO, Agoda.
Participants can sign up at Codegoda.io from now until 17July 2021 (2 p.m. ICT). The competition will be hosted on Interviewbit, and contestants stand to win prizes worth up to US$10,000. The last Codegoda challenge, held in 2019, generated 900 entrants and seven software engineers who entered the competition were subsequently hired by Agoda.
Agoda invests in state-of-class technology and talent to innovate the way people travel. The digital travel platform currently employs more than 4,000 staff globally, with over 1,000 technology employees.
