IHG Hotels & Resorts grows Holiday Inn brand in Vietnam
IHG Hotels & Resorts will expand its world-renowned Holiday Inn brand in Vietnam with new properties in leading city and resort locations Ho Tram, Sapa and Halong.
The three Holiday Inn Resorts properties will open by 2024 and offer guests of all ages the chance to relax, unwind and explore in some of the country’s most stunning destinations.
Whether it’s on the Ho Tram beachfront, the terraced rice fields of Sapa, or within easy reach of the theme park in Halong, there’ll be something for everyone, with the family-friendly resorts offering a wide variety of activities and comforts including kids clubs and connected rooms with Kidsuites.
The Holiday Inn brand was introduced in Vietnam in 2019, with Holiday Inn & Suites Saigon Airport, which has 350 well-appointed rooms and one of the largest meeting and event spaces in the city, accommodating up to 850 people.
Building on the strong reputation and award-winning properties it has in the luxury and lifestyle sector with Six Senses Hotels, Resorts & Spas and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, IHG’s strategy is to grow its Vietnam estate across all brands by 50% in the next two years including the Holiday Inn brand family – Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts and Holiday Inn Express.
Serena Lim, Vice President, Development, South East Asia and Korea, IHG said: “It’s fantastic to see the rapid expansion of Holiday Inn in Vietnam. Through our strong in-country teams, we are committed to working closely with our new and long-standing partners to bring this world-renowned brand to more city and resort locations across the country.
“We introduced the brand to Vietnam in 2019 with Holiday Inn & Suites Saigon Airport, and we’re excited to now follow this up with three stunning new hotels. We will soon open the first Holiday Inn Resort in Ho Tram at the world-renowned Ho Tram Strip entertainment complex – which will help to re-define family travel in Vietnam – and this will be followed by further great openings in Sapa and Halong.
“On top of these fantastic properties, we also see an opportunity to grow in Vietnam’s secondary and tertiary markets such as Greater Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh. And with the strength of domestic travel as it is, we’re also keen to expand in industrial areas and provincial capitals such as Vinh, Hai Duong, Haiphong and Binh Duong, as well as family-family resort destinations including Quy Nhon, Sam Son and Hoa Binh.
“We’re also intending to introduce Holiday Inn Express, our select service hotel brand, to the market very soon – so you can see the level of our ambition. With 13 hotels across four brands, our upcoming Holiday Inn openings will form part of the pipeline of 17 hotels across six brands for the company within the next few years.”
In the first half of 2021, the Holiday Inn Brand Family accounted for 66% of IHG’s total openings, and half of all new signings, and currently boasts one of the largest global pipelines with more than 900 new properties under development. Within Asia Pacific, Holiday Inn is the market-leading brand[1] according to the Daily Lodging Report, complementing its existing 188 hotels across 49,870 rooms in the region[2].
As one of the most recognised and trusted travel brands in the world, and one of the global leaders in mainstream business and leisure travel, the Holiday Inn brand has connected families, friends and colleagues worldwide over its near 70-year history. With full-service restaurant and bars, inviting meeting and event spaces, family-friendly amenities, and reliable and trusted service, it’s ready to reunite families, reconnect businesses and plan social gatherings when travel resumes.
IHG has enhanced and evolved the Holiday Inn brand in recent years through multiple initiatives including an adaptable and flexible next generation design, created with the comfort and needs of travellers in mind. In addition, its transformational Open Lobby concept combines all public spaces – from the reception area, to the restaurant, bar and lounge – into one open, cohesive space with a contemporary feel giving guests the freedom to use the space as they want, depending on what they need at different times of the day and for different reasons.
