Lamita members can redeem memberships at California Fitness & Yoga
Ho Chi Minh City, 25 Jan 2020: California Fitness & Yoga (California) has swung into action for members of the now defunct Lamita Dance Fitness chain of Zumba clubs, offering free CFY memberships to people impacted by Lamita’s closure earlier this month.
“When the news broke earlier this month that Lamita would cease its operations, we looked at this as part of our mission to lead Vietnam’s wellness revolution and to impact the health lives of every person in Vietnam. We knew that we would be able to assist the thousands of members of Lamita who found themselves without the classes they came to love,” said FLG Vietnam – which operates California Fitness & Yoga – Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Dane Fort.
For Lamita members looking to redeem this offer, the process is simple. “All they need to do is visit the nearest California Fitness & Yoga Center, present their active Lamita membership along with their ID card or driver’s license, and our team will convert that Lamita membership to a one-month Cali membership.”
Former Lamita members will also be eligible for discounts on memberships should they choose to stay on at Cali beyond that month. This program will see reduction in pricing of up to 15% if signing before end of February. This promotion applies until end of April.
They can also apply for their CFY memberships online at https://fit.cfyc.com.vn/lamita-dance-fitness/
The announcement coincides with California’s launch of its new Zumba offering which Lamita’s members are set to love. The group’s new Zumba Zin Parties feature new moves, new rhythms and new music, set in a club-like atmosphere, with disco-lights, dance-battles and themed parties.
The free memberships extend well beyond Zumba however, with impacted former Lamita-members having full access to Cali’s gyms, Group X and Yoga classes with their new memberships.
This is the second time in the past year that Team Cali has come to the rescue of a high-profile upstart fitness chain in Vietnam, following a similar offering to WeFit members in 2020. At the time, over 2,000 Wefit members decided to take up the offer and join the well established fitness company.
“It’s a sad ending for Lamita members and partners, and we look forward to welcoming them to California. We know they are as enthusiastic about their health and fitness goals as our Cali members are, and will fit right in with our Zumba and Dance community, and come to love the Clubs we have built nationwide,”added Mr. Fort.
“There are more fitness chains and apps currently in the space which may suffer a similar Covid fate. We are in a growth industry in Vietnam, and leading the way in the country’s wellness awakening, which makes fitness an attractive field for investors,” said Mr. Fort. “However it is a business like any other, that requires not just passion for fitness, but extensive discipline and strict corporate governance to succeed. Sadly we have seen a few instances of well funded, highly publicized fitness start-ups collapse, not only to the detriment of their celebrity investors, but more importantly, to their members who have placed their trust and their family’s hard-earned income into an unstable fitness partner with an unsustainable business model.”
California Fitness & Yoga is part of the international Fitness and Lifestyle Group, which presently operates five brands across over 60 fitness & beauty locations nationwide.
