Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia were the top three International travel picks for Vietnamese over labor day long weekend
While social media has been full of pictures of crowded Vietnamese beaches and traffic jams to the nation’s top designations, the extra-long weekend between 30 April and 3 May offered more adventurous travelers in Vietnam one of their first opportunities for an international break since borders reopened and flights resumed a little over a month ago. With four free days to enjoy, leading online travel platform Agoda has delved into its data-banks to see where travelers from Vietnam booked their breaks abroad.
Keen to hit-the-malls once more and take in the cuisine, city-scrapes and new attractions that Singapore has on offer, the nearby Lion City led the way for outbound bookings from Vietnam over the recent Reunification Day and International Labor Day break.
Not to be outdone, Thailand came in second, with Vietnamese keen to hit the Land of Smiles once again, taking in its vibrant capital and stunning beaches, while recently re opened Malaysia with its island stays and cooler mountain retreats took third spot. Rounding out the top five were long haul destinations Canada and France.
“With border restrictions reducing, travel has begun to pick up, accelerated by airlines resuming services, so we see travelers from Vietnam taking the chance to get out and explore once more, taking advantage of some great value deals to incentivise travel. While domestic tourism will continue to dominate our bookings for the foreseeable future, a sharp increase in outbound international travel is a tremendous sign of both the resilience of our industry and the eagerness of Vietnamese travelers to get on the road again and start exploring the world once more,” said Lam Vu, Agoda’s Country Director of Vietnam.
