TALES OF THE TAELS
Over 1000 Hanoians sign up for California Gold Hunt with 24 karat prize on offer
The second round of California Fitness and Yoga’s national gold hunt will be rolling into the capital this week. With an exclusive Gold Card Iconic Membership up for grabs, the national fitness leader is calling upon the Hanoi community to join its Gold Rush at Times City on Saturday 12 November.
And a gold rush it is too – with challenge 2 already having attracted 1000 entrants from the nation’s capital. Still, the fitness pioneer is still calling upon more entrants to race against the clock in a dash for golden glory.
The Cali team will be setting up Gold Mountain, with ingots of gold stacked high. Competitors will have 60 seconds to race 15 meters back and forth, gather as many bars as possible, and stack them – Jenga-style – in the weighing area. Whoever bullion-builds the heaviest gold tower will win a 24 karat Iconic gold card valued at over US$7,000.
The Iconic Membership tier is the highest level offered by the nation’s leading fitness and wellness company, and the exclusive 24 karat gold card is one of only seven ever produced – with four of them up for grabs in this national challenge, and three others offered as prizes for Cali’s new and existing members.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer Dane Fort, whose 15th anniversary in Vietnam coincides with that of the company he founded, remarked: “In 2007, when we first started selling memberships in Vietnam, we had people coming in and paying us in gold bars. It seems fitting then, that on our 15th anniversary, we are giving the gold right back!”
Winning gold has been very much the Cali way in 2022, with the company setting a Guinness World Record earlier this year for the largest body transformation album ever compiled from people around Vietnam looking to improve their bodies and improve their lives by improving their physical health.
The Hanoi event is the second leg of a four-stop roadshow, with the first event conducted at the Landmark 81 Centuryon club in Ho Chi Minh City three weeks ago. That event called upon entrants to leap-for-gold into the club’s pool and was ultimately taken out by Saigon Heat basketball star Tim Waale who jumped an amazing 3.4 meters into the pool to surface with gold in hand. The event drew hundreds of entrants to the club’s pool-deck, and the Cali crew is hoping to replicate that success with its capital leg this week.
Joining in the fun will be a star-studded array of influencers including Rufino Aybar and his father, Ba Tung, Long Đoan, Phạm Anh Quan, and cyclist Javier Sarda Perez, all of whom will be vying to build the largest golden tower and bring home the exclusive membership for themselves, and enjoying demonstrations from Cali’s Group X instructors, minigames, a lucky draw and other entertainment.
Limited places still remain, so interested entrants should sign up now at https://fit.cali.vn/15years-challenge/.
The event will run from 13.00 to 17.00 on Saturday 12 November at the Times City Urban Area, 458 Minh Khai, Vinh Tuy Ward, Hai Ba Trung District, Ha Noi. Registration is required, and contestants will race on a first-come-first-served basis from their check-in time at the club.
The Gold Hunt Challenge will continue to Danang next, ahead of a final Ho Chi Minh City round before the company goes into full party-mode, celebrating ’15 Years of Sexy’ in Vietnam – the anniversary of the first California in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 5 in 2007.
“15 years is an amazing achievement,” Fort remarked. “Over that time, our industry has changed so much in this country – we have largely defined fitness as an industry in Vietnam, and we continue to do so. We see countless imitators entering the market, all broadly attempting to replicate the success we have had with Cali, Centuryon, and more recently Jetts. Still, the imitators are all trying to reinvent our success of five years past, while we are focused on inventing success five years into the future. Endless innovation has been the story of Cali for the past decade-and-a-half, and our 15 Years of Sexy celebrations, promotions and events are all testament to what we have achieved, and milestones on the road to what is yet to be achieved.”
