California Fitness & Yoga Centers and VPBank team up
World’s first ‘health and wealth’ payment card launched
Ho Chi Minh City, 10 December 2019: California Fitness Group and VPBank launched today two new co-branded credit cards in a ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City. The VPBank-California Fitness Platinum Credit Card and the VPBank-California Centuryon Signature Credit Card represent both California and VPBank’s ambitions to help Vietnam become healthy, wealthy and wise, and is the first time a fitness brand a bank have partnered on wellness-focused credit cards anywhere in the world.
A meeting of health and wealth
“As we come in to the new year and the nation wishes each other health and prosperity for the season, there is no better time for us to launch a product that marries health to wealth in a way that no one has ever done before,” said California Fitness Group Chief Executive Officer Mr. Dane Fort.
“We see this as part of a holistic wellbeing approach, a healthy approach to your body and a healthy approach to your finances. Ultimately our clubs are about improving lives, and we are confident that these new cards help improve the lives of cardholders nationally.”
“This partnership of two titans of their industries offers tremendous benefits for both of the partners,” said VPBank Deputy CEO, Mr. Phung Duy Khuong. “VPBank is currently one of Vietnam’s top-ranked banks and has the highest credit-card growth rate in the market. With over 200,000 members nationwide, the California Fitness Group represents the perfect partner for VPBank to continue to fuel this growth. We offer a variety of cards to meet all customer needs, and our new VPBank-California co-branded cards bring customers new choices and new ways to build their perfect lives.”
The cards and their benefits
The two cards each offer cardholders an extensive array of benefits, starting with free gym sessions, and the ability to accumulate points that can be used towards a variety of incentives within California Fitness Group’s nationwide network of 36 fitness clubs and 12 Eri Clinics.
California Fitness Platinum Cardholders will be entitled to:
- Welcome gift set (Bag, T-Shirt, Cap)
- 2 PT sessions
- 2 weeks free-of-charge training for cardholder
- 2 weeks guest pass for family & friends
- Additionally, if a cardholder uses it to buy a Centuryon membership, they will be entitled to one session of Oru body cell detox stimulation therapy valued at 11 million VND
Centuryon Signature Cardholders will be entitled to:
- 2 sessions of Oru body cell detox stimulation therapy
- 2 PT sessions
- 2 weeks free-of-charge training for cardholder
- 2 weeks guest pass for family & friends
With health and wellbeing at the core of the new cards focus, in addition to these benefits, all members will enjoy a generous Health Points system that sees healthy behaviors incentivized and rewarded with points redeemable at California Fitness Group companies. Each 1000 VND spent on a California Fitness Platinum card earns its cardholder 5 Health Points, while the same expenditure on a Centuryon Signature card earns 7 points. Double points will apply when spending at California Fitness Group outlets, and are redeemable for privileges including free sessions at California Fitness & Yoga Centers and Centuryon clubs.
VPBank-California Fitness Platinum cardholders will receive 1 Gym Day redeemable against service and free fitness sessions at California Fitness & Yoga Centers for every 40 million VND spent within a month. Cardholders who accumulate 8 Gym Days will receive 14 free sessions. VPBank-California Centuryon Signature cardholders spending the same amount are entitled to 3 Gym Days redeemable at Centuryon clubs. Accumulating 24 Gym Days in a row equates to 14 free premium sessions.
Shaping the future of fitness:
The card is the first of several new innovations that the group will make into a combined health and wealth ecosystem of products.
“We see opportunities within financial services to ensure a complete peace of mind for our members,” said Mr. Fort, citing insurance as a sector where the company could possibly look to expand in 2020 by offering protection and investment products bundled with memberships.
“In 2020 we will look to build out our financial services offering to include investment, health and general insurance products for our members as part of a long term vision that sees us a platform for all of their health and wellness needs.”
