Vietnam fitness pioneer becomes Asia’s first fitness group to launch its own wearable
California Fitness & Yoga’s ever-expanding commitment to Vietnam’s fitness and wellness industries today took a huge leap forward with the introduction of its own LivWell Cosmos smartwatch and fitness tracker. The move sees Cali become Asia’s first fitness brand to enter the wearable space – and one of only a handful of gym companies in the world to ever enter the tech sector, offering a wrist-top total wellness management solution for its users.
The watch pairs with the group’s specially developed LivWell app – which gamifies fitness in a unique burn-and-earn model that provides financial incentives and bonuses to reward exercise and other healthy behaviors, as well as offering a suite of insurance products to its users.
The Cosmos is also the first device released in Vietnam that includes pre-loaded Accident insurance for its wearer.
“Cali this year celebrates its 15th birthday in Vietnam, and that is 15 years of innovation since day 1,” said the company’s founder and CEO Dane Fort – who also celebrated his 15th Vietnam anniversary earlier this month “…and the Cosmos is our birthday present to Vietnam.”
“We have an ecosystem that spans fitness and yoga, health and wellness, mental health, beauty and skincare, nutrition and catering, insurance and financial wellbeing – and now are able to bring that all within an arm’s length of users around Vietnam,” Fort continued.
“No other gym group in Asia has developed and marketed its own custom fitness tracker and smart-watch, but such is our belief in Vietnam’s fitness ecosystem and the future of its wellness revolution.”
Cali announced its own ambitions to touch the lives of all of Vietnam’s 100 million people at the kick-off of its world record attempt early in 2021. With that world-record now certified by Guinness for the world’s largest gallery of transformed-bodies, the Cosmos represents the company taking the next step forward in this 100-million-man journey to raising the health standards of an entire nation.
Himself something of a fitness junkie, Dane is known to wear as many as three fitness trackers at a time in his own journey, monitoring his own heart rate, sleep patterns, calorie burning and so forth. His own involvement in all aspects of the development of the LivWell Cosmos reflects his desire to bring the best of all worlds on to the wrists of people all over his adopted homeland of Vietnam – and importantly – at a price-point that the market would appreciate.
The launch coincides with the 26th California Transformation Challenge, with 306 devices being offered as prizes and incentives to participants, as well as providing valuable real-time tracking and data for people in the various stages of transforming their bodies and their lives.
Citing Q1 2022 research, Fort went on to say that: “Smartwatch wearers are typically exercising about 4.3 days per week – about 50% higher than the three days per week non-wearers are exercising. Wearers typically set and monitor their goals more closely than non-wearers, with almost half saying they achieved a goal of exercising more regularly, a third saying they are taking more steps every day, and 30% saying they lost their unwanted weight after they started tracking on their wearable.”
“These goals, targets and achievements fit perfectly with our Transformation Challenge,” said Fort, adding the adage that: “What gets measured gets managed.”
The Cosmos offers real-time wellness management via its Health Suite, which measures heart-rate, blood-oxygen and the user’s stress levels.
Workout modes include walking, running and cycling, jump rope, basketball, swimming and badminton, all displayed via a friendly custom UI upon the LivWell Cosmos’ 1.7 inch TFT screen. Featuring its Li-Ion battery, offering more than two weeks of standby time. The device weighs in at a wrist-friendly 50 grams, and features swappable silicone straps. The IP68 water-resistance ensures pool-friendliness for swimmers. The Cosmos links to smartphones via Bluetooth 5.0 to the LivWell app, which is available for both iOS and Android.
LivWell Co-Founder Nikhil Verma said of the launch: “The Cosmos provides a vital technological link in our health, lifestyle and insurance platform, putting people’s healthy behaviors just a wrist-glance away, providing key data on their health and fitness which connects directly into our app, which in turn provides background health information and data for our growing insurance portfolio.”
The Cosmos is available on LivWell App or can be purchase in Traformation Challange Package, price at 1.68 million VND and comes with 50 million VND worth of preloaded Personal Accident Insurance for the user along with Accidental and Liquid Damage protection for the device itself.
