Vietnam heads to the coast this long weekend says Agoda
Agoda, one of the world’s fastest growing online travel agents (OTAs), today revealed that Vietnam’s travelers are making a bee-line for its beaches this National Day.
With seven of the top ten domestic destinations located on the nation’s 2,000 kilometer coast, it’s clear that Vietnamese travelers are seeking a little vitamin-sea over the long weekend and getting ready for the rays.
Proximity to Ho Chi Minh City sees Vung Tau top the list for domestic getaways, with the countless connecting buses, limos and hydrofoil services ensuring the town is set to be buzzing over the long weekend. Da Nang came in second, with adjacent Hoi An taking seventh place to ensure a busy period for the central coast.
Perennial favorites Nha Trang and Phan Thiet claimed fourth and sixth spots respectively. UNESCO site Halong Bay’s hotels and junks are set to be popular too, with the stunning emerald bay claiming ninth spot ahead of the southern paradise island of Phu Quoc, which rounded out the top 10.
Mountain towns Dalat (fifth) and Sapa (eight) also featured in the top 10, as did the nation’s largest metropolis, Ho Chi Minh City, which was the only major city in the top 10, coming in third.
City-breaks dominate for travelers who are pulling-out-the-passports over National Day, with Bangkok and Singapore topping the list of destinations for the period. Other Asian metropolises such as Taipei, Seoul and Kuala Lumpur also fared well with Vietnamese travelers this year.
Thanks to the addition of direct air services earlier this year, Bali has climbed in prominence to claim third spot among international destinations, drawing travelers with its myriad beach, mountain, culinary and cultural offerings, as well as visa-free entry for Vietnamese.
Paris was the only non-Asian city to crack the top 10 internationally, while direct flights to Tokyo saw the city occupy seventh spot on the list.
