VIETNAM RECYCLES TAKES CENTER STAGE AT RECYCLING DAY 2016
Ho Chi Minh City, March 29, 2016 – Vietnam Recycles will take part in the 9th Recycling Day 2016, an annual event held by Ho Chi Minh City Natural Resources and Environment Department and related parties.
The event will be held on April 10, 2016 at the HCMC Labor Culture Palace, 55B Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, District 1.
With a focus on “Sustainable consumption and production”, the event this year will stage activities that are both meaningful and beneficial, promoting a message of “green production, green life”.
Vietnam Recycles’ crew will be out in force at the event, as it showcases its e-waste recycling program. Participants at the event will have opportunities to drop-off their used electronics devices in e-waste containers placed at the event, but also join other interactive recycling-related activities organized by Vietnam Recycles such as quizzes, a photo corner, a video show and an assortment of other activities at the booth.
Vietnam Recycles is a free take-back program for used or defective electronic equipment is seen successful in calling Vietnamese citizens to participate in their recycling program in order to minimize the overall environmental impacts from e-waste. At ten collection points arranged in Hanoi and HCMC, the collected equipment will be transported to licensed hazardous waste treatment facilities before sorting according to product categories and dismantled in a designated process to assure maximum material recovery of the different commodities and a safe and secure recycling process.
Prime Ministerial Decision 16 sees electrical and electronic manufacturers required to take back discarded end of life products from July 2016. This specifically requires manufacturers to offer places for consumers to dispose of electronic waste equipment as a measure to help preserve Vietnam’s beautiful natural environment.
Vietnam Recycles was launched in January 2015 and is growing its network of drop off point to schools, governmental institutions and shopping malls and encourages citizens to make use of the program’s offer to assure a safe and secure recycling for their discarded products.
