CANON PHOTOMARATHON 2018 OFFICIALLY KICKS OFF WITH “LIVE FOR WHAT YOU LOVE” AS THE KEY THEME
The 13th annual Canon PhotoMarathon was announced today, with a total prizepool of up to VND 900 million up for grabs in the nation’s largest photo contest of its type. The event, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, will once again see its national winner represent Vietnam in the PhotoMarathon Asia Championship in Japan in 2019, and 16 other contestants honored around Asia with awards up to US$5000.
Ho Chi Minh City will be the first to the starting line of the iconic marathon, when budding men and women of-the-lens will race out the blocks on 20 October from Hoa Lu Stadium at 2 Dinh Tien Hoang Street in District 1. A week later, their northern counterparts will answer the starter’s pistol, kicking off the event in the capital at Hanoi Children’s Center at 36 Ly Thai To in the Hoan Kiem District.
All participants must be at least six years old, applicable for all nationalities who are legally residing in Vietnam.
With a 12 year legacy behind it, the Canon PhotoMarathon is one of the largest events of the year for photo-enthusiasts, regularly drawing crowds of 5,000 and above to an event that aspires primarily to nurture, develop and leverage the country’s photographic talent.
“Vietnam regularly draws some of the biggest crowds in the region to its PhotoMarathons, and we are proud to see the way in which our event has come to be one of the most anticipated events on Vietnam’s photographic calendar. We aim each year to both nourish and nurture the love of photography as an art form among the community here,” said Hiroshi Yokota, General Director of Canon Marketing Vietnam.
With message “Live for what you love” and the mainstream image composed of many images showing through various angles of lenses about Vietnam and its human, Canon PhotoMarathon 2018 is on the hope that everyone will be able to express their love and perspective on daily life through the art of photography. All photos taken by participants over the last 12 years have been recorded by the board of organizers for future projects, which reflect Vietnam as a vibrant and multi-dimensional country.
Under the banner of “Live for what you love”, the 2018 event is a celebration of humanity as captured by the lens.
