Delegates announced for the 2021 Australia-Vietnam Young Leadership Dialogue
Today, the Australia-Vietnam Leadership Dialogue (AVLD) announced 22 young leaders, between 25-35 years old, representing Australia and Vietnam as delegates for its 2021 Dialogue. For the first time, the Dialogue will be held in a hybrid format with Vietnamese delegates joining from Ho Chi Minh City and Australian delegates joining from Sydney, on 5-9 September 2021. The 2021 AVYLD is proudly sponsored by the New South Wales Government.
The announcement event was hosted online with the presence of distinguished guests from key partner organisations, including government agencies, universities, businesses, non-government organisations, and the media from both Vietnam and Australia.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC, Governor of New South Wales, said “New South Wales is delighted to support these young leaders in deepening ties between our two nations, at a time of New South Wales’ own strengthening relationship with Vietnam spanning trade, education and, importantly, people to people links. Our capabilities across food and beverage, agriculture, water, education, training and technology position our State as an ideal partner to help Vietnam meet emerging economic, demographic and social challenges”.
Her Excellency Ms Robyn Mudie, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, shared her warm congratulations to the selected delegates. Always inspired by the contributions of the young generation to creating better outcomes for society, Ms Mudie said “I look forward to witnessing the impact that all of you will bring to communities across Australia and Vietnam through deeper understanding and stronger collaborations”.
On this milestone, His Excellency Mr Nguyen Tat Thanh, Vietnam’s Ambassador to Australia, emphasised the importance of people-to-people links between the two nations. “The calibre of the 2021 Young Dialogue delegates speaks to the greatest strength of both countries – our people. These deep, meaningful personal connections between our future leaders will continue to strengthen the long-standing friendship and partnership that have always been built on trust, commitment, and collaboration”.
The five-day dialogue aims to facilitate deeper cross-cultural understanding and collaboration through discussions and workshops with distinguished speakers from Vietnam and Australia. Inspired by the Dialogue’s theme, “Regeneration”, Ms Cat Thao Nguyen, Co-founder and Board Chair of AVLD said “This year’s program intends to challenge the delegates to disrupt traditional paradigms and shape them to think more deeply about their role and responsibility in supporting Australia, Vietnam and the bilateral relationship to achieve the 2030 targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals”.
Throughout a rigorous selection process, 22 young leaders, 11 from each country, have been selected. This diverse group of delegates spans across various industries, including health, agriculture, arts, technology, business, education, tourism and media.
AVLD is an independent not-for-profit organisation that was established to nurture relationships, promote engagement and incubate collaboration between Australian and Vietnamese young leaders from a broad spectrum of society.
