DIGIC 7 gives excellent performance and image quality to Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II
Canon Marketing Vietnam today announced the launch of the new PowerShot G9 X Mark II to the PowerShot G Series line of premium digital compact cameras. Featuring the latest DIGIC 7 image processor used in the premium Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II and EOS M5 models, the PowerShot G9 X Mark II produces high quality images and new levels of performance for accurate detection and precision tracking of subjects.
Designed for the lifestyle photographer in mind, the PowerShot G9 X Mark II offers the convenience of a high-performance camera in a compact, lightweight design (approximately 206 grams). With built-in Wi-Fi and NFC connectivity functions, sharing vibrant and crisps videos and images on social media platforms will be a breeze.
“The joy of photography is now widely appreciated among larger audiences and as many casual photographers cultivate their photography hobby, they develop deeper appreciation of quality imaging technology. The Canon PowerShot G9 X Mark II’s compact size and ease of use belies its powerful imaging prowess. With the new DIGIC 7 image processor, photographers will easily achieve superb quality images while exploring new features in photography without compromising on convenience,” said Hiroshi Yokota, General Director of Canon Marketing Vietnam
Intelligent DIGIC 7 delivers on-point performance
The new DIGIC 7 image processor delivers high precision tracking performance and allows for touch detection of image subjects. The camera will automatically detect and track the face of a designated person, as well as animals and even objects that are not highly discernible in a low colour-saturation background. In addition, the DIGIC 7 image processor also makes continuous shooting of 8.1 fps possible, making it effortless for users to track and capture fast moving subjects on the PowerShot G9 X Mark II and pick the ideal image from the continuous shots taken.
The 3x large aperture zoom lens (28-84mm*) assures high image clarity in varied shooting situations, even in low-light conditions.
The DIGIC 7 image processor also underpins the enhancement of image quality on the new PowerShot G9 X Mark II, even at high ISO speeds. At ISO 1600, edge noise is suppressed to the equivalence at ISO 800, thus maintaining excellent resolution and higher level of image clarity.
The newly developed dual sensing image stabilisation (IS) feature provides 3.5 stops of image stabilisation when shooting still images, reducing camera shake more effectively even when shooting in low light or night conditions. The dual sensing IS works by using two types of information processing: A gyro sensor that detects physical vibration and a new algorithm that utilises information from the image sensor to compensate for image blur.
Control and creative functions
Included on the PowerShot G9 X Mark II is the Picture Style support found in the Canon’s EOS series of cameras, with 8 pre-set styles, similar to the Canon EOS DSLR line of colour reproduction. Each pre-set can be customised to the user’s preferred settings and requirements. The touch screen LCD and control ring makes it easy and more intuitive to adjust and change camera settings as the user desires.
The PowerShot G9 X Mark II is now equipped with the in-camera RAW image processing feature. Users of the PowerShot G9 X Mark II can edit RAW files on the go at their convenience, adjust settings such as brightness and white balance easily within the camera without any loss of quality and upload processed images instantly to social media even when away from home. Batch processing of RAW files is also possible and particularly useful for shots which are sequential or in the same scene.
Connectivity and smartphone app control
Bluetooth low energy technology is also newly introduced to the PowerShot G Series line in the PowerShot G9 X Mark II. The technology empowers seamless and automatic Wi-Fi connection between cameras to mobile devices, while ensuring low power consumption, enabling both power-efficiency and longer hours of connectivity on the PowerShot G9 X Mark II. With Bluetooth low energy technology, users may also use their mobile devices as a remote control for shooting or playback of images, enabling users to have greater control and options.
The new version of the Camera Connect smartphone app interface for remote live view shooting delivers improved usability with both the guide display of AF operations and setting display on the same screen. The new image filter function of the Camera Connect smartphone app also makes it easier to search through vast amount of image and video files on an SD card.
The new PowerShot G9 X Mark II offers the versatility of charging up the battery via the commonly used micro-USB cable, eliminating the need to carry a separate camera battery charger when travelling.
