Garmin Continues to Assert Its Position with Impressive Q2 2024 Financial Results
Ho Chi Minh City, August 19, 2024 – Garmin Ltd. (NYSE: GRMN) has announced impressive financial results for Q2 2024, with consolidated revenue increasing by 14% to USD 1.51 billion compared to the same period last year (as of June 29, 2024). This represents a record quarterly revenue, marking the fourth consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth. These results not only reflect Garmin’s strength in a competitive market but also demonstrate the sustainable growth of this technology company.
Impressive Growth Across Multiple Segments
In Q2, Garmin’s operating income reached USD 342 million, a 20% increase from the previous year. Earnings per share (EPS) under GAAP were USD 1.56, while pro forma EPS reached USD 1.58, up 9% compared to the same period last year. These figures highlight Garmin’s operational efficiency and cost management capabilities.
Cliff Pemble, President and CEO of Garmin Ltd., shared: “Garmin is proud to report impressive growth this quarter in both revenue and operating income. This achievement has exceeded our expectations and sets the stage for Garmin to raise its revenue and EPS forecasts for the entire year of 2024.”
The company witnessed strong growth across multiple segments. Notably, revenue from the fitness segment increased by 28% in Q2, reaching USD 428 million, driven by significant growth in wearable devices.
The marine segment also recorded robust growth of 26%, bolstered by the acquisition of JL Audio and the expansion of product offerings, including the Force Kraken and Panoptix PS-22 Ice Fishing Bundle. At the recent ICAST trade show, the Panoptix PS-22 was honored as the Best Product in the Ice Fishing category, marking the fourth consecutive year the company has won in this category and the seventh consecutive year it has been recognized at ICAST overall. Additionally, Garmin was selected as the exclusive marine electronics and audio supplier for Independent Boat Builders, Inc. through 2029.
The automotive OEM sector experienced explosive growth with a 41% increase in revenue, primarily driven by the development of domain controllers. This year, the company shipped one million domain controllers. Moreover, Yamaha recognized Garmin as an Outstanding Business Partner, awarding it the 2024 Global Award for excellence in technology and development.
Beyond revenue growth, Garmin also reported positive results in operational efficiency. The gross margin reached 57.3%, and the operating margin stood at 22.7%, demonstrating effective cost management and sustainable company growth.
In addition to product development driving sales, Garmin has also focused on investing in its people, nurturing over 19,000 employees globally with comprehensive benefits. Recently, the company ranked second on Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Large Employers” for 2024.
In the Vietnamese market, Garmin has also made significant strides. As of January 2024, Garmin recorded impressive growth with the number of Garmin users exceeding 330,000 nationwide, affirming its strong position in the smart wearable device market. This success is the “fruit” of active initiatives throughout the year, such as launching the Forerunner 165 GPS running watch, the Lily 2 fashion watch, expanding brand stores across shopping centers and key cities, and expanding Garmin Pay payment solution partnerships with major banks.
